This ski season presents some unique challenges to the running of cross country ski races. The many restrictions and protocols in place at Falls Creek left the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Race Committee in a difficult situation with difficult decisions to make. After much consultation and many discussions the race committee decided not to run Ski de Femme scheduled at Falls Creek. The restrictions on access to the resort, facilities and accommodation limited the ability of our volunteers and racers to access races and events and the protocols and contingency planning required made the task nearly impossible.
This was not an easy decision and the committee is well aware that these races and events are important to the cross country skiing community. We thank you for your understanding in these difficult times and hope to see you next year.
The annual "Ski de Femme" focuses on fun, fitness for females. Women of all ages and abilities are tutored by a variety of expert coaches in both the skating and classical disciplines. The day is not confined to beginners, and instructors will be able to take intermediate and advance classes in Classic or Skate. After the skills session there will be morning tea followed by a fun ski race to test out your newly learnt skills. Please arrive at the Nordic Bowl by 9.45am.
Ski de Femme at Falls Creek is proudly presented by the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club. This community event has been going since July 1994 and is run by volunteers as a day out on cross country skis for women.
Ski de Femme offers free cross country skiing instruction in small groups for both novice and intermediate skiers in a choice of classical or skating techniques. The clinics are fun and a great way for women of all abilities to learn about or improve their cross country skiing.
